phonebackup takes all your contacts, calendar entries, and notes stored on your mobile phone and copies it to our secure internet site.
phonebackup connects your phone with our server over GPRS and keeps your data synchronised in your private account which is username and password protected. Phone data can be updated in your existing phone regularly, or if you change your phone (either through loss, theft, damage or upgrade) you can restore all data to your new phone.

1. Will it work with my mobile phone?
Check our list of compatible phones. Your phone model can usually be found underneath the battery in your handset.
2. How much does it cost?
There is a charge of €19.99 for this service.
3. How do I change my password?
Log into your account; go to the My Account section. Change your password and press save. If your handset is using a mobile client (i.e blackberry or android), once you change your password, please remember to set your new password in the application on your phone before your next sync!
4. Is it safe to use?
Yes, all data is encrypted. You are the only person that can access your phonebackup.ie account, which is protected with your password.
5. What happens if my current phone is lost, broken, stolen, or if I upgrade?
Once you have your new phone, log into your phonebackup.ie account and update your details with your new phone model, number etc. A new configuration settings message will be sent to your new phone. Activate the settings and Synchronise your new phone - all the data will be restored from your online account to your new phone.
6. What type of data can I backup?
With phonebackup.ie you can backup your mobile contacts, calendar and tasks, you can choose the data to be synchronised when you enter your settings into the phone.
7. Can I use the service with other mobile phone operators?
This service will work with any network.
8. My phone cannot connect, I get a GPRS message, what does it mean?
Contact your operator to make sure you are set up for data.
9. How often can I use phonebackup.ie?
You can back up as often as you like.
10. How many contacts can I backup and restore?
There is no limit to the number of contacts you can back up.
11. Can I back up more than one phone?
Your account can only be associated with 1 handset at the time. So you can only backup and restore your contacts from and to 1 handset at a time.
12. Can I get back the contacts I have deleted from my phone?
Yes.
13. Can I restore all my contacts onto a new phone even if it is from a different manufacturer?
Yes, as long as your new phone is also a compatible phone from our list, you will be able to sync your data to your new mobile phone and it does not matter if it is from a different brand.
14. Can I use the service abroad?
You can use the service abroad, but data charges are higher when you are abroad, and we generally recommend that you turn off data roaming. If you do want to use the service abroad, you will need to have data roaming enabled and switched on.
15. How do I sign up?
Simple! Go the sign up page and follow the 3 steps to create your account. Once your account is created, log into your account and go to My Profile to request our settings message to get your phone ready to sync with phonebackup. Once you have received the settings message, you are ready to backup your data
16. Can I answer my phone during a backup/restore?
Yes.
17. How do I know if a backup/restore has been successful?
You will get a message to your handset.
18. Can I back up the contacts stored on my SIM card?
You must first copy your contacts from your SIM card to your phone memory and then backup as normal. Otherwise, the synchronisation will appear to have worked, but your will not see your contacts online.

20. I am missing some of my contacts?
Check that the contacts you are trying to sync are stored in the phone memory and NOT the SIM card. Phonebackup.ie backs up data from the phone only and not from the SIM card.
21. I have a new mobile phone or number
If you change mobile phone or mobile number, please log into your phonebackup.ie account and update your details, in the “My Phone “ section. In the My Phone menu press “set up my phone for sync”. The new settings will be sent to your handset. Save. Activate. Sync
22. I have lost my old phone, how do I get my contacts back?
Once you have got your new phone, log into your phonebackup.ie account. Update your phone model in the My Phone section and select save. In the My Phone menu press “set up my phone for sync”. The new settings will be sent to your handset. Save. Activate. Sync.
