Got an unwanted mobile? We’ll recycle it.

Everytime we recycle a phone we make a donation to support a worthy cause. It may be a local initiative, a local fund raising project or to CROSS, our chosen cancer research charity.

CROSS is an acronym for Cancer Research of the Oesophagus and Stomach at St James’s Hospital. The charity is a focal point for cancer research that is undertaken at the Institute of Molecular Medicine located in the Trinity College Centre at the Hospital. A significant element of the research programme relates to prevention and treatment of oesophageal and stomach cancer, but the Centre also undertakes research in cancer of the breast, colon, rectum and lung.

Supported strongly by the rugby playing community, in particular its patron Dr Felipe Contepomi, CROSS was set up in 2004 as a channel to provide funding for the advancement of cancer research in Ireland. CROSS is significantly dependent on private donations and support.

In many homes throughout the country there are old / unused mobile phones, digital cameras, games consoles etc. This equipment, regardless of its condition can be broken down into components which can then be sold to generate much needed funds for the charity.

Also, at fonemenders we like a world with less rubbish in it.

So if you have an old unwanted mobile lying in a drawer do your bit for a worthy cause like cancer research and for the environment by dropping it into one of our recycling boxes. Then we’ll dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner whilst ensuring that somebody else benefits too.
